The time for self-healing PPF (Paint Protection Film) to repair scratches varies depending on various factors.
Generally speaking, under suitable temperature conditions, minor scratches may start to be gradually repaired within a few minutes to several hours, and usually can be basically repaired within 24 to 48 hours. However, if the scratches are deeper or the ambient temperature is lower, the repair time may be extended.
The following are some factors that affect the scratch repair time of self-healing PPF:
I. Temperature
Higher temperature promotes repair: At relatively high temperatures, the molecular movement of self-healing PPF is more active, which helps to accelerate the scratch repair process. For example, in warm weather or when the vehicle is parked in the sun, the temperature may rise to a certain extent, thereby speeding up the scratch repair speed. Generally speaking, when the temperature is above 25°C, the repair speed will significantly increase.
Low temperature delays repair: On the contrary, at lower temperatures, the molecular movement of self-healing PPF slows down, and the scratch repair time will be extended. In cold winters or when the vehicle is parked in a low-temperature environment, the repair process may become slow. For example, when the temperature is below 10°C, the repair of scratches may take several days or even longer.
II. Scratch depth
Rapid repair of minor scratches: For relatively shallow minor scratches, self-healing PPF can be repaired relatively quickly. These scratches usually only affect the surface of PPF and do not cause substantial damage to the underlying car paint. Under suitable conditions, such scratches may be significantly reduced or completely disappear within a few hours.
Slower repair of deep scratches: If the scratch is deep and involves multiple layers of PPF or even causes certain pressure on the car paint, the repair time will be significantly extended. Deep scratches may take longer to gradually recover and may not be completely repaired to be exactly the same as the original state. In some cases, multiple temperature changes and time accumulations may be required to make the scratches less obvious.
